Teaching children with learning disabilities
Many children have different abilities to learn and interact with their environment, how to express their feelings and socialize with others according to their understanding. Learning disability is a condition known as Neurological disorder. A problem that makes it hard for a child to stay focused, pay attention, hard to control behavior and hyperactivity.
The open system towards the procedure of educating is the full participation of the child and convergence of consideration and aptitudes and opportunities.The teacher should identify the area of weakness or lagging performance, whether academic or social. The first step is to understand why the child has difficulties, and then come up with strategies to help in solving the problem.
The teacher should be able to relate to the child on an emotional level; this is essential for full understanding. Personal experience with the problem is critical for the teacher to be able to appreciate its impact on child’s learning and self-esteem in school. Simple strategy and the most common for teaching children with disability is question and answer. By applying the strategy, children can ask the question where they fail to understand. The reason of this technique is to help improve the ability to understand and interpret to learners with disabilities.
A parent at times fails in their responsibilities to their children, by showing too much affection to the baby instead of nurturing. Another thing that does not help children is when their parents pity their children or feel sorry for the situation. A parent should have a strong relation with their children and teach them how to take care of themselves and have a positive attitude.
